Minutes from 4-10-06

Treasurer’s report:
Banking is officially changed over
completely to Kennebunk Savings.
Carole reported balances and is in
the process of entering the financials into MS Money to better track the
account.
Motion made and carried to table
the treasurer’s report.
Old Business:
Helmets:
George will place the order for 60
helmets for the Jr. High team this week.
Coaches:
- Still
need one Pee-Wee coach for the upcoming season. Most ideas have been
exhausted including an ad in the paper. Deb and Michele will try to gauge
interest during the baseball season.
Flag Football By-Laws:
- Highlights
of proposed by-laws handed out to everyone present at the meeting. If
there are no other changes or additions requested by the next meeting,
then Michele will go forward with making them formal for addition to the
current Squires By-laws.
SMYFL meeting:
- Kittery
will officially join the league starting this season with the Jr. High.
They will replace Portland who dropped out, bringing the league total to
12 teams.
- Tentative
schedule handed out by George for the Jr. High teams -
Running/conditioning camp – Aug 1st
Full gear – Aug 7th
First games – Aug 26th & 27th
Cheering:
- Sherrie
needs to set dates for try-outs. Tentative date to start May 15th,
pending Sherrie’s approval
New Business:
Football sign-ups:
- May 31st
and June 1st, 6-8pm
- Have
sign-ups at the baseball fields for both Berwick and No. Berwick for
easier access, need to be sure that Lebanon has the info as well.
- Need
to get fliers to schools
- Discussed
having coaches visit the schools to generate interest
Rec Meetings for the town:
- Cindy
will assume the duties of being the Squires representative at the town rec
meetings – normally scheduled for the last Wednesday of the month
Additional Notes:
- Deb
has presented some of her ideas for fundraising this year. Number one on
the priority list is to find a way to garner sponsor money. George will
draft a sponsor letter that she can hand out. Some ideas were floated on
how to “reimburse” sponsors for their donations ( ie: ad in a program,
signs at the field, etc .etc )
- John has
indicated that the Patriots no longer give out monetary gifts, they will
however send something that we can raffle to earn money. John will follow
up with a request.
- Jeanne
Sorrell would like to know what our plans are for the freezer. Carole and
Cindy have both offered up space. George will solicit help to get this
moved as soon as it has a new “forever home”
